Giving back to the community is important to us, and it probably hasn’t slipped your attention that our focus is not only local, but very national security oriented. As military veterans, we look to provide those who follow us in service the benefits of our successes.
You’ll see in the photo above Marine Lance Corporal Mark Lang, seated in the aircraft with Dennis Boykin outside on the wing. A fellow Redleg (cannoneer, artilleryman, cannon-cocker – you pick the term of endearment), Mark was unfortunately in the path of an explosion in an M-777 howitzer training accident during workups for a deployment to Afghanistan. He has spent months and months rehabiliting at Bethesda. When he and his Mom needed some help with a ride to Boston and back, Dennis volunteered as part of the Veteran’s Airlift command (see below). Mark’s leg has to remain straight (he has a halo on his femur) so he had a great flight with his sneaker comfortably esconced between the two front seats of Dennis’ Piper Comanche. Ask us how that made reaching the fuel selector valve kind of interesting up at altitude!
Veteran’s Airlift Command & The Wounded Warrior Program
Wounded Warriors need a lift sometimes, so we provide it.
You’ve noticed all of our consultants are veterans, and as such, we believe in supporting the young men & women who are carrying on the traditions of military service. As Wounded Warriors come home from the two conflicts in Asia, they’re not wealthy, and traveling to see friends and family gets expensive. Even more difficult is the lot of Reservists and National Guard soldiers, who come home to places where there isn’t a big military presence, and they need to get around to appointments. That’s where we come in – a network of pilots who provide pro-bono airlift for our Soldiers, Airmen & Marines.

Toys For Tots
Toys for Tots began in the fall of 1947 when Mrs. Diane Hendricks crafted a homemade doll and asked her husband, MAJ Bill Hendricks, USMCR, to deliver the doll to an organization that would give it to a needy child at Christmas. When Bill determined that no agency existed, Diane told Bill that he should start one. Like all good military spouses, he did what he was told ! Major Hendricks and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children, and the rest, as they say, is history.
DB4 Consulting is a local supporter, organizing box drives at locations in and around the Leesburg Community. If you’ve never gone shopping at Toys R Us with no particular child in mind, you haven’t lived.
Pilots N Paws
Pilots ‘N Paws is a national charity working with rescue groups across the country to facilitate rescue transport – airlifting domestic pets – from high-kill shelters to new lives in adopting homes. Four million former pets are euthanized in the United States every year because they don’t have homes. Across the country, thousand of volunteers drive as many animals as they can from high-kill shelters to shelters that can adopt them out, and Pilots are helping by donating their time, their planes, and their fuel to transport animals to places where they will be adopted. It’s the goal of Pilots ‘N Paws to make transport available for all rescued animals that have homes waiting for them – no matter where those homes are.
Db4 Consulting has supported animal rescue flights since before the inception of the company, and has logged landings in 9 states carrying dogs, cats, and yes, even a sea turtle! Our Piper Comanche can be configured to carry two large crates, two small crates, and one additional dog in a harness in the back. Our longest flight to date? A 7 hour day starting in Leesburg, Virginia then on to Washington County, North Carolina to Norfolk, Virginia to Richmond, Virginia to Morristown, New Jersey to Wilmington, Delaware, and back to Leesburg. Whew…..
